Trash Rakes

Trash Rakes are heavy duty raking devices used to remove extremely heavy debris and are usually found upstream of the Traveling Water Screen. Trash Rakes are typically supplied as a stationary unit or as a traversing unit that serves more than one bay. Typically Trash rakes are the ‘first line of defense’ in an intake structure. Sometimes also referred to as Fine Screens, these rakes are suitable for dealing with large quantities of leaves, sea grass, jellyfish and logs.

Two types of Trash Takes are available from Screening Systems International.

Benefits:
High throughput
High reliability/low maintenance
Rugged design
Proven Technology

Materials of Construction: Carbon Steel, Hot Dipped Galvanized, Stainless Steel, some components can be non-metallic composites.

A second design is the Screening Systems International Monorail Overhead Trash Handling™ (MOTH™) system. This unique system is designed specifically for applications where a small equipment footprint is required; such as a narrow fore bay.

Materials of Construction: Carbon Steel, Hot Dipped galvanized, Stainless Steel.

Benefits:
Smaller footprint, allows for installation where traditional ‘grab’ screen cannot be installed
Electro Mechanical operation – no hydraulic components to leak or contaminate your intake
Can be supplied as a gantry type rake
Manual or Automatic operation
Differential controls available

NOTE: 1910.179 of the Occupational Health & Safety Administration defines these monorail systems as an ‘Overhead Gantry Crane’.

1910.179(a) defines a crane as a machine for lifting and lowering a load and moving it horizontally with the hoisting mechanism an integral part of the machine. Cranes whether fixed or mobile are driven manually or by power.

OUR MOTH™ SYSTEMS IS DESIGNED TO MEET THESE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
