History

1988
From the beginning, Screening Systems has been an innovator in the manufacture of water intake equipment. Starting at our founding in 1988 with our first orders for new screens and screen rebuilds, we have continued to diversify our product line in our chosen field.

By June of 1989 SSI secured our first major contract with an Engineering Procurement & Construction firm. The order included Traveling Screens, Bar Racks and a Manual Raking System. By this time we were having issues with contract trucking services, so we purchased our own trucks to better insure that our equipment was delivered intact and on time.

1990
In 1990 SSI formed our first Factory Trained Field Service Crew to provide removal, repair and installation services for our Customers.

1992
In January 1992 we begin working on our first Fish Handling Traveling Water Screen for a government agency in South Texas. We also designed and begin production of our Nonmetallic Basket Frames.

1993
Our first Dual Flow screen was built in January of 1993 and by September of that same year we manufactured our first Traversing Trash Rake and our first Stop Logs.

1994
In February of 1994 our first Stationary Screens were built and delivered.

1995
In 1995 we were awarded a contract for ten new traveling water screens, located at four different plants for a single Midwest Power supplier. This order included turn-key removal of the existing screens and installation of the new screens and was our largest order to date. The contract value was over a million dollars. This order included our first Mechanical Bar Screen.

In the late 1990's we begin forming Partnership Agreements with our major customers to provide Service and Maintenance of their screens.

2000
By the turn of the century we had outgrown our first facility and built our current facility in Louisiana. This facility is still the largest and most well equipped Traveling Water Screen Facility in North America.

2001
In 2001, because of delivery problems created by our suppliers, we purchased four (4) CNC machines and started manufacturing our own carrier chain. We are still the only Traveling Water Screen manufacturer that produces our own carrier chain.

Each year, we have researched the needs of our Customers and made the necessary adjustments in our business required to fulfill those needs.

This innovative attitude and commitment to progress has permitted us to grow into the leader of our industry. It has also allowed us to design and deliver the products and services wanted and needed by our Customers. We continue this tradition today by designing and marketing new products, improving our manufacturing techniques and finding new ways to help our Customers. We are the premier traveling water screen company, and we feel that the future can only get better, for you and for us.
